Meet Our Team

The community at The Hub consists of different leadership teams, community members, partner organizations and churches, a Board of Directors, staff, and our neighbors in the Argentine community. Learn more about who we are and what we do here.

Staff

  • Rev. Carter Ellis

    Executive Director

Carter is an ordained elder in the United Methodist Church and she loves practicing Asset Based Community Development in the Argentine neighborhood of KCK and using the gifts within the community to guide our work together. Carter also loves guest preaching throughout the Kansas City area. Before moving to Kansas City, Carter served several different churches in the Western North Carolina Annual Conference. She is a graduate of Vanderbilt Divinity School and Wake Forest University (go Deacs!). Carter and her wife Lora live in Argentine with their two dogs, Winnie & Dottie. When she is not at The Hub or spending time with her neighbors, Carter loves spending time with her family, hiking, working on their 100 year old house, supporting the KC Current (women's soccer team), and learning to cook new things.

  • Andrea Villeda

    Coordinating & Program Assistant

I am blessed for this opportunity to work alongside of the Hub Argentine and I look forward to growing new skills and knowledge with everyone! In my day to day life I spend time with my daughter who is now 1, she is my miracle! I also love spending time at the gym and going on runs during my spare time. I come from a humble background growing up and being raised in Kansas City. My community of WYCO has given me a unique view of the community. I believe in everyone receiving and getting help and I hope to help in anyway I can while working at the Hub Argentine.

  • Joyce McCarty

    Judd Jones Scholar Intern

Joyce is a certified candidate for ministry pursuing ordination as an elder in the United Methodist Church. Joyce believes in fully embodying faith, which looks like showing up, interrupting oppressive structures, and doing things with people, not for them. She thinks that if we use the gifts within the community to guide our work together we can only win. One of Joyce’s favorite things to do is laugh, she loves stand-up comedy, and finding irony in every situation. Before moving to Kansas City, Joyce grew up on a dairy farm in rural Illinois. She is a graduate of Culver-Stockton College and currently studies Divinity at Saint Paul School of Theology. When she is not hanging out at The Hub or spending time with her neighbors, Joyce loves spending time with her husband Alex, traveling, playing piano, making fun of her husband’s obsession with sports, and learning languages.

Board of Directors

  • Mike Aguirre

I am super excited to serve as a board member for the The Hub of Argentine. I am a father of 3 wonderful kids that keep me busy as a parent/coach. Argentine is and will always be home to me. I love the people here and the small but tightly knitted community feel. I am looking forward to sharing all of the great resources The Hub has to offer with all of Argentine and making it more accessible to all residents. For fun I like to play sports with my kids as well as the neighborhood children and keeping them active and off of their electronics.

  • Paula Blevins

I am so excited to serve as a board member for The Hub of Argentine! I currently live in Argentine with my husband and our three children. Growing up in Wyandotte County, Argentine has felt the most like home. This is why I am looking forward to being a part of the work The Hub has set out to do while continuing to build connection and community in Argentine. For fun I like to spend time with my kids watching movies, playing outside, or listening to an audio-book. Can't wait to meet you all soon!

  • Rev. Tom Brady

I’m honored to serve on The Hub Argentine Board. Both my father and grandfather served churches in Wyandotte County at London Heights, Queens Garden, Quail Memorial and Brown Road Methodist Churches. Those who have been around a while might remember those churches. I like to think of my involvement in the area as a continuation of the work they started many years ago. For fun I like to play indoor and outdoor games. So if you’re interested in learning how to play backgammon, cribbage, pitch, or any sport that involves a racket or ball – I’m your guy. I also like to cook and ear, so I hope we can share a meal together sometime in the future.

  • Rev. Nicole Conard

I have prayed for the Hub of Argentine since its inception, so its so cool to see how its unfolding! I love talking about faith, transitions and helping people and organizations take the next faithful step. I get to serve the Kansas City area as the Congregational Excellence District Liaison, by identifying and deploying resources to communities with United Methodist presence. I am married to Andrew and have two kids, John (11) and Anne (9). We are big into gardening, reading and anything kid-related these days! I’m so honored to be a part of this community.

  • Zaira Gomez

I am excited and happy to serve as a board member for The Hub of Argentine. Argentine has been my home for almost 20 years. It has been incredible to witness our community grow in so many areas within that time. I hope to continue being a part of the resources shared within our community. I enjoy spending time learning, living, and connecting with others. For fun I like to listen to music and create art. I look forward to meeting everyone and sharing meaningful experiences.

  • Dominique Jones

I live in the Argentine community and I like that there’s a sense of community here. I look forward to the opportunity to serve within my community and I am committed to being a part of the groundwork leading to change. I’m also looking forward to building relationships within The Hub Board of Directors and with members of the community. I enjoy collecting plants and learning about them, catching up with friends/relatives, and spending time with my husband & son. And, I could teach you how to update a space by consolidating items, cleaning, and organizing it--usually within a day!

  • Jesi Lipp

I am a life-long United Methodist and currently worship at St. Paul’s UMC. Though I grew up in the Kansas City area, I only recently became a resident of Argentine. I am so excited to serve this community as a board member of The Hub Argentine. I'm a graduate of the University of Kansas, and I work as the Grants & Accounting Coordinator at the Metropolitan Organization to Counter Sexual Assault. I love reading science fiction and fantasy, playing D&D, streaming video games, and chilling on the couch with my dog. Also, I would totally be responsible with a flamethrower!

  • Brad McDonald

I am honored to serve on the board of The Hub Argentine. My professional career includes lengthy stops at Sears, Best Buy, and Sprint/T-Mobile where I enjoyed different roles across retail stores and corporate management. My wife and I have called the Kansas City area home since 1997, and we are using our recent retirements as an opportunity to expand our service around the community. We attend Church of the Resurrection. And, we have two daughters with families of their own including four grandsons, and stay busy with them here in KC and in Omaha.

  • Fernando Mireles

When asked what guides his life, Fernando says: “Love thy neighbor--it’s just that simple.” Fernando’s mother raised him and his siblings and instilled within each of them the importance of loving your neighbor and caring for each person in the community. He loves living in Argentine because it is a place where he can really get to know his neighbors. He makes it a practice to greet everyone who drives or walks by his home by saying hello or waving at them. Fernando is also a brother, father, uncle, grandfather, and incredible salsa chef.
