Who We Are
The Hub Argentine is a non-profit organization located in the Argentine neighborhood of Kansas City, Kansas. The Hub Argentine focuses on developing deep relationships with our neighbors in the Argentine community and working with churches across the Northeast Kansas District of the United Methodist Church to connect them to the Argentine and Wyandotte County communities. Our work is modeled on Asset-Based Community Development, which celebrates God's abundant gifts and creation in every individual. We focus on getting to know our neighbors and building community through community organizing and intentional listening.
We currently offer 8 programs that connect neighbors to one another, celebrate the gifts of our community, and increase access to the resources needed for health and wholeness. Our Community Market, Clothing Closet, Community Garden, and Shower Program provide vital resources that support the well-being and dignity of our neighbors. In partnership with Youthfront Neighborhoods, we offer an after-school program for local children, while our Neighbors of Argentine program shares neighborhood stories and creates opportunities for connection through community events. Our community organizing efforts empower residents to build relationships, identify shared priorities, and work together to strengthen Argentine, and our Neighbor's Kitchen serves as a community space for cooking classes, nutrition education, shared meals, and food entrepreneurship.

The Hub celebrates God’s gift of diversity and values the wholeness made possible in a community equally shared and shepherded by all.

We acknowledge that we live in a world of profound social, economic, and political inequities. And, we commit ourselves to the pursuit of justice and pledge to stand in solidarity with all members of the Argentine neighborhood.
Our History
The Hub is located at the Metropolitan Ave UMC building in the Argentine community and is a ministry of the Kansas City District of the United Methodist Church. In July 2020, Metropolitan Avenue United Methodist Church closed after 132 years of vital ministry in the Argentine neighborhood. This closing gave birth to two new United Methodist ministries in its place: Ushindi UMC and The Hub. Ushindi United Methodist Fellowship is a vibrant United Methodist Congregation with worship services in Swahili and Kinyarwanda on Sunday mornings at 10 AM. Now 5 years old, The Hub is established as a non-profit organization in the Argentine community with many partners.
